Unexpected Repercussions
Mar 15th, 2022 at 3:12pm

Today's news reminds me of some unexpected results of the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Many people dug primitive bomb shelters in their back yards.  Being on a lake I can't do that here.  The sale of Cadillacs skyrocketed.  If you're going to die anyway, why not? I kind of have the urge to buy that electric GMC Hummer  right now.  And there was a huge jump in the birth rate nine months after the crisis.  Again, why not?

Since you can’t dig down, you should consider doing an earthbag/super-adobe shelter RM.  It’s basically an underground bunker above ground, and they’re literally dirt cheap. With a steep-pitch dome design  and a smooth plaster coating on the outside to keep falling debris from settling in the cracks, it would actually make a really decent fallout shelter.

We have had it way too easy in America for too long. Now we are going to see the other side of it.  People will endure a lot of BS from their politicians but if serious food shortages become a thing we are going to see some craziness happen.

You mean the craziness hasn't happened yet ?

I still swear I got shifted into an alternate dimension about 5 years ago and I'm still there !

This just can't be the 'real' world.

Oh its been crazy but not guillotine crazy. Thats a whole different level lol. It just depends on how bad inflation goes and how bad the food shortages are.

You know if I was a conspiracy theorist, which we all know Im not  Roll Eyes, I would say a good indicator of whats coming up was when the faux meat trend came out and a bunch of very wealthy and connected people started buying stock in those various companies. Meat is going to be intentionally priced out of many peoples budgets in the future "for their own good". But dont you worry, youll be allowed to eat bugs.  Wink

Which is why it's a great idea to stock your home with non-perishables. I know I've said this before.  It's very easy to stockpile a year's worth of food or more.  Rice, beans, oatmeal, peanut butter, ramen, pasta, etc. keep almost forever without refrigeration.  During a long term food shortage you might not be eating exactly what you want but you'll be eating.  And you will avoid the food riots at the government distribution points.  I honestly can't understand not doing so, especially now.  It must be the Boy Scout in me. "Be prepared." Starving sucks.
And along the same line of thought laying in a good supply of ammo isn't a bad idea either.  What good is having food if someone can take it from you.

You’re right.  I need to go find more rocks for my high speed tactical assault sling Grin

Ammo is basically money  when paper money becomes toilet paper… of course in a pandemic, toilet paper is also money 🤷‍♂️

Ive always been a bit of a prepper and this is why. Now we are hearing about possible worldwide food shortages/famines. Wouldnt surprise me. I feel like several things are building up to a point of failure and when one goes they will all go rapidly in short succession.
