Kestrophendone and stones/lead from same sling

Hi again crew,

Forgive me if this is already a thing.

I whipped up a one piece leather sling and found I can sling kestrophendone and stones from the one sling by having two release knots at different positions on the release cord.

I used a cricket stump for my other kestros with the retaining hook behind the flights (I lost it so it isn't pictured), pictured is a mini dart I made from an old arrow shaft with a hook grinded in the arrow head for illustrative purposes.

Is this something they may have done in ye olde slinging days? Is it something that is common knowledge and I'm just late to the party?

I've not heard of anyone using the same sling for both before.

Most historical sling knowlege was never recorded.
It was everyday knowlege to them, so not often worth writing down.
It's mainly when you get a historian remarking on habits in a foreign land - like the romans talking about the balearic island mercenaries, that something is ever recorded for posterity.

But the everyday slinging habits and practices of the legions themselves, we know very little about.

So it could well have been common practice, until they invent a time machine, we'll probably never know.
