I  have been planning to make a rungu for a while now, but it suddenly occurred to me that I made one 9 years ago and just didn’t know it Grin

Throwing sticks are awesome. I love them and think they are terribly underrated. I bet that think would be great for small game like rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, pumpkins,  turnips, beets etc.  Smiley

Im guessing rungus hit harder than kylies? Perhaps they are a little harder to aim than them but maybe thats the trade off? I would sooner throw that at a hungry coyote at my camp than a kylie. Good stuff NOOC.

Nice!  Looks like that thing packs a pretty good punch.  The damage to the pumpkin was significantly more than an ice ball (or pykrete ball) from a sling.

Here’s a little more gratuitous pumpkin violence

Throwing stick is on my list of things to make. One thing is finding a hard enough wood. Softer woods are easily available, especially after branches get trimmed and piled up in the nearby forests. Hard woods are a little rarer to find being liberally trimmed and left around for me to "borrow".

I've also fallen in love with throwsticks so reused my kestros darts that have been gathering dust. They work much better as throwsticks than darts Cheesy

seems a shame to ruin a lethal looking knobkerrie (uh 'walking stick') but looks like a decent throw stick Thumbs Up

Surprised how short the africans were throwing the rungus.

Although most of them looked like they were using a hybrid spear windup for the rungu, that might be the issues.
Either that or it was just a show for the tourists whistle
