Favorite movie car chase?

What is your favorite car chase(s) from a movie(s)? Mine is from the 1968 movie bullitt. I like to watch old movies.

Yep, the chase in Bullitt is classic.

I'd probably go with the chase at the end of What's Up Doc? (1972).  Definitely more comedic than suspenseful, but very entertaining.  I also really like the police chase in the first Bourne Identity.

Either Driving Miss Daisy or Steel Magnolias. The part where that woman is in that car.

Terminator is good. The original I assume? Part 2 was excellent as well with the semi. Very iconic scene.

Cant forget the Blues Brothers.

almost every bond movie - ever lol

But for sheers guts you have to look at some of the early silent movies.
Buster keaton and the and the keystone cops, in particular.

No bluescreens, no stuntmen, no health and safety regulations.
Just suicidal stunts by complete nutters !

The modern inheiritor of the silent movie chase routine would have to be jacky chan.
He's broken more bones than just about anyone else in history, some more than once.

These guys were true hardcore !

And one of my favourite chase scenes in recent movie history would be the tank chase in goldeneye:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB7ZWNlF8DY

The fast and furious films had some good chases as well.

Then there's the prison transport scene from deadpool 2.
But that might just be because I have a thing for domino whistle

Basically starts with the parachute drop massacre and ends when juggernaut brings the prison transport to a final halt.
Awesome sequence and Luck IS a superpower !

Oh yeah raiders was a great chase.
There was an episode of the big bang theory where they explained that everything 'junior' did was totally pointless and effected the final outcome of the film not one bit.
And you went: 'that can't be right'.
Then after a couple minutes of working it all through in your head. :'oh yeah, they're right !'

No, Big Bang Theory was wrong.

The Nazis were looking for Abner Ravenwood, not Marion.  And he was dead.  They either didn't know about Marion, or had no idea where she was.  They followed Indy to her.  I think an argument can also be made that if they did find her, they likely would have killed her after taking the headpiece.

So at the very least, Indy saved the damsel in distress.  But it could also be said that he brought the headpiece to the Staff of Ra into the picture.  Without that, the Ark is never found, and no movie.

Since Deadpool was brought up what about the first scene in part 1? Both those movies are something else.

so if the arc is never found - same result, it's locked away.
if it's found, it ends up loocked away.

lolI get the feeing you've actually debated this with someone joe Smiley

There is no situation where it gets used for evil.
We'll give indy the damsel savng lol

Mind you you can say almost the same for the last crusade.

As the cup can't pass out of the cave - nobody could nick it, so the whole thing was a total waste of time.

Spielberg (lucas? I know it's one of them) really should get someone to do plot analysis whistle

yeah the start of deadpool is excellent !

More than once.  Roll Eyes

There's more too.  Say Indiana wasn't there at the beginning to get the idol out of that cave.  Belloq may have still been in South America trying to recover it, and not been available for the Nazis to recruit in finding the Ark.  Not sure how much of an impact that would have made, but it's another point to be considered.

The notion Big Bang tried to make was that Indy didn't have an impact, and things would have basically turned out the same way without him.  My argument is that's not really possible because he was the cause of most of the events.

Although I do concede your point that the Ark not being found, and it being found, both end up in it continuing to be hidden away.  Wink
