yeah used double denim a lot a few years ago for mass producing pouches for group sessions..
Cut the jeans into even sized square panels - bigger the bgetter, but make them the same size and square not oblong - reason made clear below
cover one half with a thin, even layer of pva glue (the cheap white wood glue you get from buck stores works best).
Then rotate the second panel 90 degrees so that the 'grain' is at right angles to the first piece.
Then sandwich them together. - best to do it on old newspaper or cardoard as it can get messy
Press the two pieces firmly together, excess glue will squish out the sides. Really work the two layers so the glue impregnates both pieces of denim.
Rolling with a wallpaper roller works well. Or just pressing down with knuckles and working it all over..
Leave to dry for a day or two.
Trim the edges and you'll have a square of a truly exceptional material to work with.
Most people who handle it witjout being told what it is, generally have no clue.
Particularly if you use black jeans.
It's almost as good as leather
And because you have the offset grain, it won't tear or unravel.
Plus the pva makes it a little stiffer and mostly water proof.
Use it as you would leather.
there might even be a thread on it round here somewhere.
Nope but I have mentioned it a lot over the years
