Target Build Show-off
Jul 28th, 2021 at 1:31pm

Hello, I'm starting to think of how to create a cheap, sturdy, target with replacement components. I have some ideas already but I would like to see\hear from some of the veterans- tips, tricks, builds. Cheers all.

If a target is a wooden square board with a round plate held at the appropriate height from the ground by a stand then a target is what I'm looking for. When I think back stop, I think something behind the target to retrieve stones that dont hit. are we thinking the same thing?

depends on whether you want it to be portable, or permament.

For an easily portable one - my polyurethane pipe target takes a lot of beating.

Easy to carry, full size balearic, up and down in minutes.

If you just want something in one spot.
Then a solif metal post, with plywood attached with bolts, so you can change it when you;ve broken the plywood Smiley

I have both steel and aluminium discs.

Obviously for portable go for aluminium. for a fixed in place, us steel.

Definitely want it portable. What do you mean by full balearic? Is that on reference to target dimensions? I would love to see your poly pipe target.

Cheapest easiest target is a roll of tape.
Find a wall and tape out the target dimensions.

Building a durable balearic target that’s portable is kinda hard depending on the ammo you want to use.

As for portable targets I’m a big fan of a nice backstop net. Target can sometimes be hung or painted in the net

There you go.

When using plumbing pipe you have to be careful you buy the right stuff.
What you want is polypropylene pipe and joints.
It's basically unbelievably tough and virtually indestructible.
So even though it's lightweight you can use stones, clay etc and not worry about breaking anything.

You do NOT want abs, they'll break very easily.
Likewise PVC pipe is also fairly brittle.
Polypropylene is your only friend Smiley

If you can't get the camo netting I used, then rubble netting is cheap and tough and comes in huge sheets that can be used in multiple layers.

I can do a complete breakdown of parts used and send the STL filed to print it get printed the angled brackets.

Cut a circle of old carpet. Put a rope loop through the top and hang it wherever you need to hurt things.

Lots of good ideas my main issue is finding a safe place to hang a trap\net\carpet or a side of a building where I could hang tape for a target.

Lol I'm kind of a dummy and im trying to make it self proof  Cheesy

Damn, you mean I actually have to reverse engineer it lol

Hokay, I'll do a pdf.
To be fair the only tricky bit is working out what joint pieces I used.
Smiley
I did do a 3d model to work out what I needed, I'll dig that out.

It's not the cheapest target around, but it is pretty cool Smiley
