They are seriously accurate. I've now extended my range to 20 meters and getting very consistent hits
I am lot more confident using this blowgun than using my bow and arrow at this distance.
A LOT more confident than the sling. But what's very nice is just how stealthy it is. There's no movement when you take a shot, unlike with a bow and especially unlike with a sling. And the projectile is shot from between the eyes, so you can really aim with confidence. it really is an excellent tool for small game definitely what I would pick if I couldn't use a pellet gun or real gun. It's growing a lot on me.

I found marbles that fit the exact bore of my CS  big bore blowgun. They fly very well, not as powerful as a slingshot but still interesting. Darts is where it's at though. Even simple bamboo darts is enough for things like pigeon.

I remember once in highschool we did a lung test in biology class. My lung capacity far exceeded that of any others. That might have something to do with it

Have you tried bike spokes J? They might work a bit better. 20 meters is a really good distance. That was some good shooting.

I keep extending my distance.  First 25 meters, now 30, it's just a lot of fun to see them fly.   It's still very realistic to get a headshot at 30 meters. If there is anything primitive that resembles the aiming and shooting of a fire arm than this is it.
I've not tried spokes but I will, sounds like a good idea.

@morphy the bicycle spoke is a great idea...
You can hammer the knobby thing at the end into a little spear point
penetration in  thick ply wood from 10 meters, tip is no longer visible
For distance I would break the spoke a little shorter. it's a fine resource for darts..
As is good for small game, brew a little poison and good for the big stuff
Thanks.

Glad that worked. Ya and in a mad max scenario theres plenty of spokes. You guys might be a little low on snake venom though. Not sure what you have up there.

Can't you blow pellets with your current blowgun?

Is bigger game hunting possible with a blowgun, without poison?

Tried my blowgun made from a cobber pipe (1 meter long, 1,5 cm wide).
Used some clay pellets and could easily get distances of 20 meters. Scary accurate.

Some people could hunt big game without poison, it's been done by some, you can look it up on the internet, big game blowgun hunt. But there are better tools for the job

Poison on the bow and arrow for big game hunting was also done in Europe a lot more than is given credit for.. people often think poison - blowgun but it was used a lot on archery arrows

Preparing it is like any new thing scary at first but once you know how and get familiar with it, I think as a primitive hunter you'd opt for it every time if you could. Greatly increase the chance of food. Germanic tribes used it very often

I know this is what they use but holy crap it looks awkward as hell.

I just noticed something looking at the gif of that amazon guy shooting the dart. His cheeks dont puff out more as the pressure increases at the shot. Its like hes compressing completely from his diaphragm. The amount of power he gets must be amazing.

Made some wonky spears today. They fly about as long and are really accurate. Managed to piece a A4 sized cardboard box, 20 meter distance several times already.

Yeah, found some cool examples.
Could be usable considering the huge precision benefits allowing one to aim for vital organs. But again. You can do that with a bow too.
