During my sessions of slinging big stones, this was absolutely invaluable.

The slings i use for big rocks, always have 2 big loops, to make it comfortable. Using gloves would have the same or a better effect with thin loops. ( that is what i know from my own experience). I have been using gloves for a long time, but i find it more comfortable, to sling without gloves.

that's why i use sliding leather finger loops/straps.
The leather stops any rubbing that you get with a pure cord loop. And sliding means it's always snug on the finger and won't rotate and rub.

I don't just do this stuff at random you know whistle

For the big trebuchet sling I used a large wide leather 'loop' that fitted over two fingers.

I did sling some with gloves on at hodd hill. But that's because when it wasn't snowing, it was sleeting and bloody cold !
Another advantage of a sliding loop - it will fit over a gloved finger as easily as an ungloved finger Smiley

I'm gonna look into a glove myself; been getting nasty blisters on my middle finger from the sling rotating as it opens under load. Using Band-Aids to combat this, but I want something less expendable. The hazards of sling hard for extended periods of time

Edit: That's using two-finger loops. Braided or not.

@ mustachio. Athletic tape (aka cloth or medical tape). Works great. Covers the necessary parts without any tactile feedback loss.
