can you warm/heat up jute and use that to make it stay flat ?

I know some fibres will work like that.
No clue if jute is one or not - or how hot you need to get it.

That looks like a 4 or 6 strand flat braid?  I tried it and I don't like it for a sling. It's hard to get even and tight. I recommend to try this method, which also uses 6 strands, but in a simple 3-strand flat braid fashion (2-2-2)

Wetting it and hanging it up to dry with some weights on it to stretch it can help but it might be better to take J's suggestion and make a new one.

Another vote for wet and hang with weight. If its still a problem I would even consider lightly boiling water with some downy wrinkle releaser mixed in and then stretch straight with weights while it dries.

Yes, short of unbraiding the sling, stretching it is likely the only thing that will work. I've been making slings for over a decade and still can't get them to lay flat, so you're in good company.

+1 for wet & hang.

Also +1 for sticking with a 3 plait weave. If you really want to use 4, I suggest using a herringbone weave.
