Egyption sling hard loom woes.
Apr 29th, 2021 at 5:40am

I've been attempting to produce an Egyptian sling on a hard loom.

All available tutorials say to make two full passes thru the loom before you start reducing the number of passes by one on each side ultimately making a pyramid shape.

The problem is is I find myself only able to reduce the number of rungs on one side.

So it looks something like this.

Row 1 has 6 over under passes

Row 2 has 6

Row 3 has 5

I think row three should have 4 tho

Very confused

My problem is completing the passes

You seem to be splitting between each pair of warp threads with your needle. You actually want to go over both or under both.

Your loom base is very narrow for its length, and has very few pegs/warps for its length. I dont think you are going to successfully make a sling with that so I'd recommend making a loom with a wooden base and small nails like this:

Also you treat each warp pair as inseparable, you go over both or under both and dont split them.

You want to weave the weft (thread attached to needle) like this.

That should work, you could make it A few inches wider too, but that should work.

I think you better sqeeze your rows of nails. To avoid too soft tissu.

You can end the weave in either position that you pointed at. if you end it further out, it will just make the pouch longer.  Just make sure to secure the loose ends of the warp cords or it may give you trouble while weaving.
