They are all from regions/countries of past competitors.

And yes - apparently spain is comprised of  a lot of little 'country states'.

I think in reality it's actually  split into catalonia and everybody else

The first language on the balearic islands is catalan.
Which is like spanish, but different.
Christian could probably explain the differences- he's the best linguist I know. 

Today, Monday, October 11, we have presented this International Shooting Meeting with Honda,
This is the "2nd Shooting World Cup with Honda Mateu Cañellas Roca".

The J.A.S.A. The organizer of this event wants to pay tribute to the former president
for 30 years of the Balearic Federation of Tir de Fona, mateu Cañellas Roca.

There will be several days of competition where between 150 and 200 slingers will participate, arriving
from various countries, Austria, Germany, Holland, England, Switzerland, USA, France, Tibet, Cuba etc.

Also from several autonomous communities; Andalusia, Murcia, Valencia, Catalonia, Madrid,
León, Navarra, Aragon, Cantabria, Castilla La Mancha etc.

The presentation ceremony was attended by a female team from Austria "Amazons Slingers", who
last year they were already in Mallorca

Also present was the sculptor artist Antoni Miquel Morro who is the creator of the figure.
that we will deliver to the World Cup Champions, it is a beautiful sculpture of
iron, is a woman waiting her turn to sling.

The runs are all this next weekend, although there are several other acts that will take place
carried out on the occasion of these recreational-sports-cultural-historical days.
