This looks interesting. Very much looking forward to the results of both slings being tested.

@JudoP - I really like that pouch design.  It won't be able to on the sling I'm currently making (I think I would want to add some strands to the braid for a 3-way spilt, but I'm already passed that point), but I might give it a try on the next one.

Thanks Joe.

Regards to the design I posted. The current version it is not very effective for round/oval ammunition (modified clay ammo as presented here by Jaegoor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duIY6d_iw00) would likely work well. The issue being that the middle arm is too 'high' so round ammo pivots on it either to the left or right side, instead of sitting across all three arms (Even with this the pouch does appear fairly stable though).

The next version I will allow a little cupping so as to accomodate rounded ammunition. There does seem to be an interesting trade off here between increased 'solidness' of the 3 strand pouch and the adaptability of having two strands.

Noted.  I figure braiding the middle slightly longer than the sides will take care of that.

I am excited though.  I'm pretty good at splitting a herringbone braid into two, then joining it back together.  Splitting into three is going to be completely different.

Okay, so now this is a poll.  Is there a post showing what I'm voting for?

Hmmm... I haven't thought about this that much. Though I have thought about rubber glandes and whether they are safe and aerodynamic. How about a one-piece rubber sling? A stiff rubber that won't stretch. Cast in a mold and mass produced. I wonder how that would perform. What pouch would be most optimal? I doubt a rubber pouch would hold up to rocks. Just spitballing.

Any chance of a prototype? Even if you just got a piece of rubber and cut it to shape. Shouldnt be hard and seems like a very good idea.

I guess this isn't all that unconventional but here's an open pouch TS3 or Appu-sling if you wish made of synthetic yarn with Nylon cords.  For some reason the picture doesn't really do it justice.  The colors are much brighter and it's generally a better looking sling.

And here is one of the Side by Side Two Pouch Slings I made. The pouches are TS5s. The entire sling is Jute. It works very well. As long as you use ammo of the same size, shape, and weight you'll get a good, reasonably tight shot group. A sling like this is also excellent for larger single projectiles.

Honestly sounds exactly like something Kick would make lol.

More than once I've considered making a sling like that Cheesy It might not be entirely necessary for flaming ammo but would be the most aesthetic way of doing it. But yeah the thought of getting hit by it has put me off Cheesy

Oh trust me I bet. You are a great guy Kick but also slightly scary at times.  Grin

i got your back lol.  Wink

Ratman, really a brilliant design. If this accomplishes the tight grouping we have all tried to get I would think it should be named after you. I know you have some that are already yours but the Ratman has a nice ring to it and then when slinging gets more and more popular 100 years from now people will wonder why it was named that. Hey you might even get your own religion!

Okay, since my last thought went over well; here's another.

Wouldn't it be better to gather all the sling designs together FIRST and THEN start the poll?

Otherwise you've given an unfair advantage to the first two slings.

Hey now, one good thought is all you get. You met your quota. We can't be improving each post too rapidly or we'll set unrealistic expectations.
