I like it!  Is there any concern with the loop not coming off your finger after the throw?  Do you just need to make sure the loop is large enough?

Also, I like that music.  I'm going to look up some more stuff from that group.

Ouch!  I would not want to be on the receiving end of that... even with a shield!

How does this compare to an atlatl?
I guess the basic concept is kinda similar but it is easier or more powerful?

Just my thoughts. Great way to have your forearm or fingers pop off.

An atlatl is more accurate.  But I can use much heavier spears with one line.  Another advantage: I can throw a line much more often.  Without a cord, the arm tires very quickly.

this probably can't be answered, but how does that work? It doesn't make much sense to me.

It's the same as a sling, it's a lever that allows you to impart more power into the throw and so can throw heavier spears. I guess really the better comparison is that it's a flexible atlatl.

But why is the line superior to an atlatl in terms throwing heavy spears?

More “power”?!  Oh you’ve done it now! This is the point where we re-debate all the arguments the forum has had with slings but for spears.

What do we mean by more power? Increased force to accelerate the spear over the same time period? An equal acceleration imparted upon a greater mass?

One thing is clear: you will definitely get more power and accuracy if you gently lob the spear. Flatlining is for amateur spear chuckers.

Also... the best way to throw a spear is underhanded sidearm style with a running floss windup.
