Virging Greek lead slinger
-long thin, finicky slings with tiny pouches that can only sling highly specific lead glandes,
becomes useless after running out of lead
-sling takes long to reload and is prone to twisting up on itself, flabs about in the wind
-legacy and tradition died out after a few hundred years
-Throws at enemies from an extreme distance, can't see whether his shots impacted or not

vs

Chad Balearic stone slinger
- Thick, heavy and stiff vegetal fibre slings, quick to make and reload
- Throws stones that weight up to a pound at such speeds to kill horses, break shields and formations
- Keeps on throwing throughout the battle because he can just pick up random stones
- Actually closes in on the enemy for better higher impact energy and accuracy
- Still prefers to sling stones after being shown the possibility of using lead instead by Roman supervisors
- Legacy continues on to this day

I think he's just looking over his shoulder to try to figure out why his left elbow bends the wrong way.

Its probably bending the wrong way under the enormous weight of his absurdly proportioned head. I would be having trouble too if I had a bag of concrete for a head.

Meh. This graphic was only sort of cute and gets less and less funny all the time. All the cool kids ride around on horseback wearing shiny armor anyway. Slingers and archers are both support troops.

Slinging as a mercenary would have been a highly prized and respectable profession back in the home country. Sure they weren't highly thought of in their army, but who cares.

Back home they'd be the envy of the men and objects of desire to the women.

You get the same thing nowadays with the lowly fruit pickers from the Pacific Islands. They go to New Zealand and Australia where they're the lowest form of unskilled labour. But back home they're rich hard working people who have been overseas and seen the wonders of the World.
