Just watched the last episode of The Mandalorian season two... They’d better stop there and not make a season 3.

Disney is going to ride that horse to death. Think Walking Dead in space.

Meh, I don’t get why people hate sequels.
One of my favorite movies (Trainspotting) got a sequel (Trainspotting 2) 20 years later which I consider to be one of the worst movies ever made. I wouldn’t mind a Trainspotting 3. As long as it was good.

The alien pre-/sequels were good too. I can’t wait for the next.

It’s not like there isn’t still being made original movies.

That's the thing. Up until recently people didn't hate sequels. Actually sequels are as much of a sure thing as you can get in the movie business. If the original movie was very successful it's almost a slam dunk that the sequel won't be at least fairly successful and oftentimes more than the original even if it's subjectively not as good.

I personally don't hate sequels just because they are sequels. I hate them because they are being made for easy profit. They are taking precedence over new original movies. And they are often nothing more than thinly veiled reboots to begin a whole other round of movies within that particular universe.

@Morphy... spot on. Movies should first entertain and second make a profit so there is a reason to make more. If profit comes first, the movie loses its real purpose and it disrespects the audience.

What I see it as is the movie equivalent to a popular, expensive clothing brand that decides to start selling to Wal-mart for the increased distribution but ends up tanking people’s confidence in their brand.

In the short term that’s what Hollywood is doing. Making lots of poorly thought out movies for the quick and dirty cash. But they are sacrificing the growth of their industry for quick cash in the short term. Is that over thinking it?  Grin Well, that’s what I think anyways lol.

It doesn't matter what American consumers think though. China is a far bigger market and they can get their hands on all that delicious CCP money. Sure, they might have to edit out "undesirables" and have characters make inexplicable trips to China for no apparent reason and might have ignore the fact the land they're shooting on was cleared of Uigur muslims who were then moved to concentration camps, but they'll make SO MUCH MONEY.

At least Transformers has always been that way, so nobody should be surprised. The 1980’s Transformers movie was effectively banned in the US in the 90’s because they killed Optimus Prime just to sell more toys and introduce new characters to the toy market.

Are they really remaking all those movies? Thats insane. Well i havent had TV in 5 years, even now our main entertainment is YouTube shows on my tablet. I dont watch very many commercials.  I tend to keep in my bubble. I havent set foot in a movie theater since 2008 `tropic thunder` thankfully they are not making a sequel to that. But i wouldnt know anyway. This forum is my main window to the outside world, outside of the town i visist once or 2 times a week.

Groucho Marx said something like "TV is very educational. Everytime i see what's on I go read a book."

We don't have a TV basically just because when we moved we didn't have a spare and we didn't want to buy one. Haven't missed it. We've watched a bit of TV like vetryan when at our parents places but it's just adverts (commercials). Adverts after adverts. YouTube adverts can be bad enough but at least there is a max of two in a row. There can be like 15 minutes of adverts! How do people even remember what show they're watching?
