Hitting the lottery

We often discuss our lottery fantasies here. Right now both the PowerBall and MegaMillions are at around $244,000,000. I could imagine hitting one of them and living in a casino like the Borgota in Atlantic City. Think about it for a second. You'd have none of the responsibilities and headaches of owning your own mansion. The very best food would be right downstairs 24/7 or you could just call room service. If you wanted to be around people there's always someone there at all hours. There would be women galore. You'd be rich and living in the Borgota in Atlangic City! And there would be shows and sporting events like boxing and MMA matches. If you get bored with casino life the boardwalk is right outside your door as is the beach or you could charter a boat or keep your own in the marina. I think it could be a rather pleasant life if you were filthy rich.
There are only two possible drawbacks that I can think of. If you had a gambling problem you'd probably quickly lose your fortune in no time. I like to gamble a little but I have no problem keeping it under control so this wouldn't apply to me. The other is that I couldn't have the dogs. So I'd have to wait until they passed before I moved into the casino.
I'll probably never hit the lottery and probably no one reading this will either. But there's no harm in dreaming.

Do you really think you couldn’t have dogs in the casino if you had over $200 million? I think they’d find a way to accommodate you.

And they'd be family and friends. I would have to buy a desert island and move there to keep people away, I'd rather not do that.

Personally I don’t really fantasize about striking it rich. I have a nice house, good neighbors, plenty of food, and a healthy family. I am already rich in so many ways. If I didn’t have to work... I probably would anyway even if it was for myself.

My grandfather was a self-made millionaire, but he lived in a humble one bedroom house. Before he passed away, he would frequently sand down his hardwood floors, stain them, and start all over again with sanding. His connection to reality was slipping as his mind faded, but he never stopped trying to fix or improve things around the house. I hope to work hard like that until the day I die too.

A lot of people also scammed him out of a lot of money and took advantage of his generosity... I guess with a casino, you at least know that they intend to take your money from the beginning.

It's a good question, what would you do if you never had to work another day?

I can't imagine myself living in a city or isolating entirely. Closer to isolating than living a city. I've lived in NYC and didn't particularly enjoy it. With money it would be different but I like personal space and I love the country.

I would probably want to spend most of my time training and then open my own martial arts studio. And tutor math as well. Wasted enough time learning it.

For most of my live the idea of disappearing into the wild very much appealed to me. If I had lottery winnings I could do it in style, as in buying my own island or something like that. Now that I'm old proximity to decent medical facilities is a big consideration. Dammit.
