Primitive slate stone tomahawks!

I made a couple of primitive tomahawks out of slate and made a video documenting it.  I must say that I'm really impressed with the Tomahawk design, it's such a useful tool in addition to being a powerful throwing and melee weapon.

@Kick, yeah I was pleasantly surprised.  Usually primitive compound tools are high maintenance but the tomahawk design held up pretty well.

I have this tomahawk. I think it is authentic but not what culture made it.
Heard that these are made by placing the axehead in the crevice of a tree, letting it grow around the axehead and then years later cutting down the tree and making the axe.

Hmmm not sure about that. Drilling holes isn't that difficult even if you don't have any metal.

That's definitely not just grown around it. The method I've seen you actually burn the hole out by lighting a fire in the spot you want the hole. Primitive Technology made an axe this way:
