I've just knotted up a couple of old bootlaces to a plastic bread bag. I'll have a chuck tomorrow if the weathers nice.

Welcome to the challenge DM!  Can’t wait to see what you’ve got!

Shockingly, my freeze-dried cantaloupe sling was a failure... on to the backup plan.  That’s going to delay my video for a few more days.

Well... several after more failures I finally think I have a functional trash sling. I’ll try slinging some tennis balls tomorrow if I have time.

Good news! I finally got a pouch and cord combination that actually worked. I managed to film a few shots this morning (surprisingly accurate), and now I just need to compile and edit the footage. I can’t promise that it’ll be as entertaining as the pumpkin challenge, but it was certainly as complicated of a project... especially with all of the failed attempts.

That was the goal!
I was trying to make the trashiest functional sling I could come up with... it took a few tries to get to the “functional” part Smiley

Great video. Love that tool you used for making plastic cordage. +1 for the trauma shears as well.

Awesome!  I laughed so hard during the tests with the first sling.  Your dog had to be thinking, 'He's usually way better at throwing than this'.  Cheesy

I love medical shears!   Did you know the TSA will actually let you carry them on an airplane?

I am a little bummed about giving up on the plastic cordage before figuring out that I really just needed to wet the corn husks, but I wanted to get my entry posted, so I opted not to keep filming.

@Joe LOL! My dog was almost as confused as I was!

Loved it.

I wonder if you could have been able to get away with a single strip of the plastic cordage, instead of braiding it?

What was the inspiration for the food waste theme? (loved the supergluing scene)

I definitely could've used a single strand.  There's plenty of strength there, and a multi-stranded soda bottle cord is definitely not ideal, but I thought using a single strip would be way less entertaining Smiley

The food theme was not intentional.  Most of the trash generated in my house comes from the kitchen, and I definitely don't want to make any slings from trash found in the diaper pail! (...or do I??? Hmmm)

Plastic bags have already been done a few times.  There's still plenty that could be done with those materials (trash bag Balearic anyone?), but I was looking for something a little different just for the challenge of working with new materials.
