Games kids play

We play a very simple game called David and Goliath.

One player (Goliath) stands in front of a target

The shooter (David) tries to hit the target with 10 balls

If David hits the target he gets one point, if he hits Goliath anywhere except the arms and legs it's a point.

If Goliath catches the ball he gets one point

Any blocked balls or ones which miss the target are no points.

Then they swap over roles.

At the end they tally their points to find the winner.

The variant on the game is when I do all the throwing and they take turns being Goliath (and they compete for score) or sometimes 3 of them will be Goliath (and it's just fun, no scoring).

I have found that they'll play this for a long time, whereas target shooting is less interesting for them and only one can play at a time.

If I were to do an adult variant I'd have two targets and two people slinging at each other and trying to protect their target, very simple and only needs two people. No taking turns, just shoot whenever you want.

I would be down to play that. Clarification on the ammo would be good first though. I don't to be stepping up and see my opponent pull out 200g rocks Cheesy

I reckon 20 or 25 metres and practice tennis balls. You'd feel them, but not going to injure you.

Finland must be cold you had a lot of clothes on in your video, you'd be fine. It's hot here so just shorts and t-shirts.

It was around 5C or so. It's gone up a bit to around 10C but it's been rainy and windy. Good old Finnish winter... Hopefully we'll get some decent snow this year. Last year was cold and wet with no snow.

This sounds fun.

I'd suggest people having a shield to block especially in head to head mode . Probably less hazardous than trying to block or catch a high speed ball.

Take out the hazard and you take out the fun. The kids have caught a few of my throws from 25 metres. These balls can't do much damage and slow down pretty quickly..

That sounds super fun. I'd love to see a video of the game.

It's a very simple game. Can't get hurt with these practice balls. Target is the green shade from knee to top of head, so 2 metres wide, probably a bit over a metre height on this boy.
