Hafa Adai and Hello All,

First --best of luck to the competitors of the Tir de Fona Internacionale. We wish we could be there but will be busy with our own three day event in Guam from February 29th-March 2nd.

2021 will mark 500 years for the first major contact between the Pacific Islands and European exploration. We are aiming to coordinate a larger scale event next year to assemble the Pacific region for sling competition. Beforehand however, we felt it is essential to assemble our local slinging poplulation to inform and prepare everyonein the Mariana Islands for this ambition and to hopefully get everyone here on the same page

Day 1. Slingers orientation and piligrimage to ancestral ceremonial grounds
Distance Seeding. (slinging seeds into the valle)to develop slingers living monument --a scenic botanical garden

Day 2. International rules Competition. Sling artifact discussuion/ Mariana Island regional state of affairs public address.

Day 3. Distance Slinging/ Rapid Fire Slinging.
      Sling Lessons,

Hmmm, any information on the slinging distances for Guam?

I'd like to know so that I can set up a rough training course that can somewhat imitate their set up.

Slinging Event on Guam is for 3days as well. Day 1 is mostly ceremonial with a slingers processiona nd a group distance seeding session dispersing 2000 indigenous seeds into a scenic valley.

Day 2 will have international rules and possibly 2 games.

Day 3 will have 1 90 second round at a target 125 yards away. Focus is combative efficiency. slinging

I think we will still be in lockdown here, we've been closed borders for 7 months now and talking about opening them July next year, but otherwise I'd be interested in bring a couple of my boys. Is it adults only?

What are the international rules for slinging anyway?

I found one document that has distances in paces, and target size and you have to use a natural fibre slings and stones. Is that a standard?

And when I looked up Guam they look like cord slings and tennis balls or one video has kids slinging silicone/cornstarch missiles.

You guys must be pretty good. At 125 yards I wouldn't be confident of hitting anything except the ground.
