I bought some rather expensive irish bookbinding linen in the hopes that once made and properly waxed it will stick around for awhile. Tabs also go a long way towards keeping my retention cord together.

It makes a good looking sling that lasts almost forever. Jaegoor; your slings are always works of art.

And yes, my crudest slings will also surivive me. I guess it's because I don't use them anymore

I had to eventually unwind it and then braid in some synthetic cord that could withstand the release. An added benefit, on top of the durability, is that now I can crack it like a whip.

If you don't mind changing the feel of the cord for an increase in durability you may give Shoe Goo a try. I used to use it as a alternative to whipping on my paracord slings. It has more of a flexible rubbery feel than glue but it is super strong and abrasion resistant. A paracord with a liberal coating of shoe goo is almost immune to abrasion.
