Welcome from Pennsylvania!  Is it just a personal interest, or is the physics aspect related to something you're doing in work or school?

I am RPG author and currently working on a "medieval" RPG (rules + settings) and I am trying to understand the physics behind swords, bow, javelins, slings, etc. so that I can build a model.

That sounds awesome! One thing I'll say about slings in RPG's (I'm assuming tabletop games?) is that they are usually underpowered. A sling in competent hands can crack skulls and dent helmets. Too often they make them like pea shooters. Balancing them with reduced accuracy compared to bows and other projectiles would make sense to me. Accuracy is the hardest thing with slings.

Howdy from a physicist in Texas! The problem with the physics of slings is that the power source (the person) is really complicated. The sling can be thought of as a transmission system to convert the action of muscles tuned for slow and strong movements into fast motion of a relatively small projectile. All of the energy in the missile (by the classic definition of the word) came out of the muscles of the slinger. This also happens to be true for bows, spears, and swords with varying degrees and modes of internal energy storage in the weapon.
