Interesting. I think with a lot of things, as can be seen with weird "combination" weapons, someone, somewhere has probably tried it. I can't imagine that slingers never rode horses and never thought to use both at the same time. Maybe aspects like ability to reload and carrying ammunition stopped it from becoming widely used like horse archers, but it must have been attempted more than once.

Eines meiner lieblingsbilder. Es stammt aus Florenz. Etwa 680 v. Christus. 😁

The sierra nevada sling was made for horseback slinging. Think it was Hondero? who made the tutorial. I made one, but made it too heavy. Five strand yucca fiber instead of three. They are short slings. Eighteen inches to I think 22 inches pouch ctr to release.

Es ist eine Balearic sling. Das Ende ist anders. Es ist so wie ich sie fertige. Nur etwas grob. Ich flechte aus Hanf. Aber mit zehn Strang. 😁

Slingers in horseback? Wouldn't the release cord get caught up    in the horse's  legs?

It ain't target practice if you keep hitting.

It was about half an hour after posting this I saw a picture of a horse in armour with horn decorations. I completely forgot those existed for a second there Cheesy

With the right technique I wouldn't think so. Some testing might need to be done, but, even with a fairly long sling, you could use helicopter and catch the pouch (you would have to drop the reigns but not impossible) and, though it's not the most accurate source and this is interpretation, it might be that the slingers in that above picture are using either an underhand or overhand technique, both of which could be controlled so the cord wouldn't get tangled.
