I've been thinking of buying a spear head and using it with an amentum but the problem is getting a shaft for it of decent wood. Finland has a lot of trees but not that many of them make for good bow or handle wood...

The main area I can get wood from is my girlfriend's family's summer cottage which doesn't have almost any silver birch and none that they would be happy for me to cut down. I really can't wait to have my own cottage and hopefully a fairly large area of forest attached. That's the dream.

Es geht auch eine junge Kiefer. Wenn man gut bearbeitet, hat man eine gute Barrel Form.  Die ältesten Speere der Welt sind aus Kiefer. 😁

Swiss arrow is generally shorter and has fletching, plus you don't wrap the cord around the shaft to make it spin.  Same principle, though.  Lets yo put more force in throwing a light object.
