I think I've said before, but you could always tell when Luis was slinging at the competition from the massive crack and the huge BANG of the stone on the target. He has a lot of power in his shots. Could the Balearic slingers sling as hard as him? I'm sure a lot of them could. However, saying that, I think we can sometimes look at historical slingers as a bit superhuman compared to modern slingers. It's basically impossible to compare because all of the accounts are very old, often subjective and can also likely be straight up propaganda and so is difficult to take without a lot of salt. Humans nowadays aren't all that different from people in history and, yes, they did a LOT more practice than pretty much any of us on the forum, but that doesn't necessarily mean they could sling over mountains at a million miles an hour.

Yeah Luis sling speeds are something to awe over. Not so much the actual speed but the weight of his stone at that speed

possibly the ones who were six foot 4 and sporting and fitness professionals.

Luis is NOT in any way shape or form a normal human/slinger Smiley

The only balearic slinger who makes more noise than luis's impacts, is the guy who slings the 800gm rocks. Pep salinas
Sounds like someone using a bloody sledge hammer.

He uses a pretty high parabolic arc - but damn you know when the thing hits the target !

In contrast luis slings a much lighter missile in a flat, rising trajectory.

Last year he hit one of the supporting cross beams on one of the targets and bent it Cheesy

I've only seen that one video of David's with him slinging. He's go a handle on the weapon, for sure. It would be fun to witness in person.

People in terms of sports, historical for example, archery are more casual than the ancients. Not many people use 90 pound bows, which were previously considered the norm, or 200 pound English bows.
I could be wrong

As by analogy with archers now and before, the same thing happens with the sling, the skill that more people of that time had and was considered the norm, now modern people are in the minority who really has skills like ancient people
