Hello from South Africa
Oct 28th, 2018 at 10:56am

I have been meaning to introduce myself for some time now. So here I am. I live in  Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. I made my first sling some time ago but it just wasn't right. I was amazed by how powerful it was but disheartened by my accuracy. So I lost interest in sling for a few months. Just about 2 weeks ago I decided to make (making) me a few proper slings. After hours of practice and a sore arm I am starting to hit my target about every 20 throws. I can throw a decent rock about 100m. This stuff is just so much fun. My favourite sling is the butterfly/boat shaped pouch sling. I want to make some more slings and experiment with different cords and pouch material. I'm running out of rocks in the park next to my house (well they are all over the park now). I want to learn as much as possible through these forums. What is your favorite sling? How to make it? And a list of all the throwing techniques will also be great. Thanks and hello Cool Cheesy Grin

Welcome from Finland! I have a lot of slings in a lot of different styles and I don't think I could pick one favourite Cheesy One of the thins I like about slinging is how much variety you can have for such a simple piece of technology. Same for throws really though I am finally getting ok with fig 8 which I'm happy about. Do post some photos of your slings, we never get tired of more pictures.

Welcome Willen! My favorite slings are balearic and seat belt. I throw f8 and balearic with both types. Great hobby and because of this forum, no end of new ideas or info.  Smiley

Welcome to the forum! I don’t really have a favorite sling overall. As for slinging styles, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o6kdRs4x1fs I remember this video is pretty good. I don’t remember if it shows them all though. Helicopter, balearic, figure 8, Greek, Greek underhand, Greek overhand, pirouette, that’s all I can recall for now, hope I didn’t miss any. And of course there’s the limitless amounts of ones people create on their own.

Howdy from Texas!
Favorite sling is my wife’s “fiesta” sling with pink, green, and blue bamboo cordage and a black leather pouch.

Welcome to the forum! Don't feel too bad about your accuracy, that takes time and practice to develop. Remember, longer slings have better power/range, but are less accurate. Shorter slings have less power, but better accuracy.

My favorite slings have been:

The Rockman sling, tutorial available on this site:
http://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1246834847

The Apache sling:

And the one-piece paracord sling, like this one here:

Hello and welcome to the site.  If you have the means and are willing to do so, post pictures of your slinging adventures.  We are an international forum and most like to see where everyone else is from.
