That was awesome. Real skill from both of them.

I forgot I was going to post this here which I randomly stumbled upon and fell in love with:

He really started shredding that thing towards the end. That was very cool! Any idea what kind of instrument it is?

A hurdy gurdy (no really that's what it's called). The Wikipedia page for it is actually really interesting:

^Never heard of them but that's not bad at all. I liked the video too.

The big travesty here is the view count. 310k. Meanwhile Gangnam Style has passed 3 billion views. Soak that in for a bit Otter. 3 billion.  Grin

Ok...on a serious note I used to tease my Dad for listening to Folk Rock like they had back in the 70s. But as I got older my tastes matured quite a bit and I realized actually that's some of the best music America ever produced.

Their first album Gentlemen is particularly good but I really love that song from one of their later albums. It seems like most of the bands I like never get out got the recognition they deserved. The music biz is fical.

Wow that was really well done. Nice find Sarosh. I like Pearl jam, well, "Ten" anyways was one of the great albums  of the 90s even though I'm not a huge grunge fan anymore...

I keep making my way back to that Japanese song you posted. Great song.

It's funny, despite having sported a mohawk for 2 years now I'm not actually all that knowledgeable on punk. People always ask me if I like punk and technically I do but I haven't actually listened to very much of it. My dad was an original punk back in the day (Once he came home with two coloured squares in bleach blonde hair, one pink square and one blue. I'm told my grandmother was not impressed...) but his tastes changed so I didn't really grow up listening to punk. I've sort of come to punk late (really late) but I really wish punk would have a proper revival. The political and social climate is there, now we just need the energy Cheesy

While I'm not a huge fan of punk I've always appreciated that style of music. The mindset of putting political and social grievance into rock makes sense to me. Weirdly enough I admire the movement but don't really care for the music which is the central part of it.

If it did have a revival what direction do you think it would be in? Brexit maybe? I don't know much about what's going on over there.

There are some that argue Mozart was a punk because in a lot of ways he embodied it's spirit as going against the popular grain at the time. I mean he now has an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to his love of scatological humour.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozart_and_scatology

That's pretty punk. It's definitely more a state of mind for me and in that way the music isn't so much the main point of it.

I think if Britain had a punk revival it would be almost exactly the same topics for the songs as it was the first time round. The current Tories idolise Thatcher and seem pretty committed to continuing her ideas. The rich getting richer, the poor getting poorer, inequality, homelessness, unemployment, classism. The recent trend of looking back to the 80s for politics, fashion and media (Stranger Things anyone?) has been very strong and I'm kind of surprised the music hasn't come back with it. Like I said, it's the perfect breeding ground for punk right now. Politicians are feeling more remote than ever despite social media and there is a sort of hopelessness creeping in generally in a lot of areas of society which will either lead to people completely giving up or getting really pissed off. Judging by how common protests and counter protests are getting, it should be only a matter of time until Johnny Rotten 2.0 pops up.
