After a very stark jungly dream Tuesday morning, this has been a strange and addictive earworm. Feels very poignant in light of the dream
https://youtu.be/ariSCwZp_LcA lot of Dead Can Dance's other works are just as good. Especially
The Carnival Is Over from the same album,
Into the LabyrinthP.S. for those curious: the dream involved a rapid global warming event that involved California taking on a HOT and HUMID climate, lots of people passing away from the conditions and newfound spread of wildlife, including but not limited to: thick monsoon forests/jungles with broad leaf evergreen canopies, dense underbrush, and dangerous carnivorous animals (including normally non-carnivorous animals taking up the more efficient meat diet). presumably all caused by the ice caps melting and flooding the California Central Valley, which introduces a lot of moisture into the local climate, and causes HEAVY wet seasons and harsher summer droughts.
the freaky thing is that this isn't unrealistic - should global warming continue and the ice caps melt, we could very well see this happen. Maybe even later in my lifetime, which is frankly scary to think about. also kinda freaky that my subconscious dreaming self, if you can even call that the source, knows how the local climate would shift in so depressingly realistic detail, without having ever researched it before. but anywho, this has been your daily non-recommended dose of depression. in such an event you can guarantee I will be living off the land with a sling, hunting new world monkeys or jaguars or whatever's around and making some cool tree forts with vine swings and all that good stuff
