Horn Bow Video
May 1st, 2017 at 5:47am

I'm sure most of you are aware of my quick descent into bowyer madness with the construction of my bow made from old skis and I thought some of you would be interested in this video. I had never really understood how exactly horn bows were made but this video really clearly explains it and you can really see Tom Lucas is a master of his craft.

Make bows.  Make more bows.  Make still more bows.

Every time I make a bow, I learn something new.

And if you have a bad piece of wood, make the bow anyway.  You'll learn more from a marginal piece of wood.  Even if it breaks.  The knowledge is still there.

Probably broke the first 20 bows I made.  Then I sat down with a guy and he showed me what to do.  It was like a light bulb was switched on.

I worked on my bow for two days, a 10 year old girl was in the same class, she made her bow in about 8 hours.

Don't you just hate child prodigies? Grin
