I've noticed titles below everyone's names....

And I get that it's a sort of ranking system, but what exactly do some of the words mean? When I look them up I don't really find anything. I mean some are self explanatory like junior member... but, I'm curious.

The more you post the more your "rank goes up".
I forget what all the title translate to but I believe they're military terms?

When we came up with the current ranks, we actually went out of our way to not use recognizable military terms. The ranks are:
Novicius - brand new
Descens - "below" beginner
Tiro - beginner
Funditor - slinger
Interfector Viris Spurii - giant slayer

Massi - WTF? It's called a sling. You use it to throw rocks farther and faster than you could otherwise. That's all.

Giant slayer - for some reason that had not registered Smiley
like it.

Mind you, I now own a catalonia slinging club t-shirt with a slinger versus a wyvern (they call it a dragon, but I'm a bit pedantic where mythical animals are concerned lol) on the back.
Maybe we could make the final one Dragon slayer Smiley

When it's been washed and I'm sure there are no bed bugs I'll get a picture. But definitely the coolest slinng t-shirt I own. And i suspect I own more than most Smiley

It's "giant slayer" in an indirect way. It most literally means "the one who defeated the champion standing" or "the guy that beat the king of the hill." Goliath of Gath was described as the champion of the Philistines and "viris spurii" is a Latin approximation of that. If you were to describe David's slaying of Goliath in Latin, "interfector viris spurii" is what you'd call David.

Mine says "junior member."  Does this have a particular meaning?  At my age (64), I am pleased to be referred to as a junior anything.
