Hmm interesting, never thought about lead in competition before.

My guess would be that there's just no point, 20 or 30 metres (mainly in ibiza) zero benefit from using lead.
And while I've never noticed any attempts at health and safety in the Balearic Islands, my guess it's possible that even they draw the line somewhere.

Plus lead's expensive and stones are free (if illegal to remove from the beaches they are gathered from,).

But stone Weight's vary from pep Salinas at around 800gms all the way down to Marcos at around 80gm.

For the record Jaegoor likes 180gm stones.

And bless him if you ask nicely, Marcos will let you use his stones

So, I hear you ask, what is the benefit of using heavier stones ?

Simply put you are less likely to overthrow.
Pep salinas throws in a fairly high slow arc, he pretty much only misses by throwing short.
I like really light ammo and pretty much miss by always overthrowing.

So there is a lot to be said for splitting the difference and going for a mid range heavish stone like Jaegoor does.
