These are as simply as they can be and consist of target and distance.
For a competition to be an official part of the International federation Of Slingers. These simple rules need to be followed.

Target:
120cm square. With a central disc of 50 centimetres diameter.
The centre of the disc should be 160 cm above the ground.

Distances to compete over are: 10, 20 & 30 metres.
Points are awarded as follows:

10 & 20 metres: hitting the square is 1 point. Hitting the disc is 2 points.
Discretion is given to the referee on whether clipping the disc is 1 or 2 points.

For 30 Metres: Square scores 2 points and disc scores 4.

Ammunition is up to the organisers.
And all sling types and materials are allowed, as are any slinging styles.

Targets can be made of almost anything, just so long as the above criteria are met.

So for instance. You could hang a square of tarpaulin between two trees and cut a hole in the middle.
Anything from that on up to the threaded metal rod target ranges we made in wyoming (and are possibly still there) are viable.


The idea is to make this as accessible and open as possible while creating a coherent and consistent competition structure that can be used the world over.

These rules also need to be adhered to for any competition to qualify as Slinging.org sanctioned.

There will be approved indoor and outdoor ammo guides coming. These won't be compulsory - but preferred and safe recommendations.

If you want to submit an idea for ammo - it needs to be enviromentally friendly(ish). Must not richochet or shatter and should ideally be cheap to make from materials readily available the world over.   

A printable set of rules and  a score sheet are attached as an a4 pdf.

I don't think anyone else does. But can't say for sure.

So depends whether you want to adhere to Ibizan federation rules - which has the same points at 20m and 30 m.

Or whether we want to use our own scoring system.

I will point out that there has NEVER been a 30 metre contest at the international in mallorca.
Despite my constant harangueing of pep to hold one. 
So there is no international set precedent.

No reason we can't have our own scores for 30 metres.

Can you add a radio button? I would like the option to vote for 4 points on the circle and 1 on the square. Otherwise, there is little differentiation between 20 and 30 m. The same hit sequence would effectively be the same score (of course misses hurt more at 30 m).

4 on the circle awards accuracy more than consistency, which is sort of the name of the game. One well placed strike on the noggin' and a few misses would be more effective than a couple of strikes on the body.

different distances are Not usually scored against each other- 10 metres is for kids and women as individuals.Though if children or women are in a team they all throw at 20 metres.

But in ibiza their regular weekly competitions are usually 5 shots at 20 metres and 5 shots at 30 and the combined score is taken for all 10 throws.
So in that case they are scored together.


try slinging at 30 metres - even hitting the quadro is bloody difficult.

And it does change the scores as most people will fail completely at 30 metres to hit anything.

I'll add your option but a 30 metre quadro is definitely worth 2 points

I’ll throw this out just for kicks. If I could change one thing about the Balearic target it would be to add a center bullseye in the middle of the diana.

As our slingers get better and better, something we are seeing quite a bit these days, I think this might be the natural next step.  It also gives people something to aim at instead of a fairly large circle.

Anyways just a thought.

Well see I think you are underestimating our wonderful slinging community my good man. Several of our slingers I bet could hit a...hmm 9 inch hole with some regularity from 20 meters. 20 meters is a huge difference than 30 or 40 meters. After you practice at those distances it feels super close.
