great pictures with one thing in common.

It's obvious that not one of the artists have ever used a sling  Grin

All the slings have both retention and release cords held together in the closed fist.
No actual way to just release the release cord  Roll Eyes

the staff sling might actually be functional  Wink

Squirrelslinger, that 4th one would be a great avatar for you.  Except guys would hit on you.  Other than that, though...

And the staff sling has a point, so it could work as a spear if the enemy closes with you, would that work or will you cut your hands or stab yourself?

Not true : "Daring slinger" let the retention cord loose (you can see a ring)

Ork slinger looks like he's sporting a big retention loop. Look real close...there's a strap of leather hiding in the dark.

If he released the retention cord - then it's not the retention cord is it Smiley
It's the second release cord  Wink
