I travel a lot with my job and while it can be a burden, at times it pays off well.

While in Kentucky this week one of our operators was knapping at his post. Long story short by the close of the week I got two five inch knife blades, two spear points at six and four inches long and several arrow heads. It was remarkable to me that it took him less than one hour to knap the knife blades.

glass can be found or the bottom of beer bottles... broken TV's, fiber optic glass scraps....
Obsidian can be found, traded for, or bought... i got an offer of obsidian for some BL a while ago...

flint can be bought or found.. or traded for.
So can chert- but chert can be found in the US easily.
beer bottle bottoms are popular for knapping... I aquired many from neighbors... they give me the empty bottles(one brews beer and has "reject bottles" which are usually cracked).... have 4 left.
knapping is fun... but that level of proficiancy is far, far, far above my skills.
