A bee. I used the leather pouch and crushed it with my hand    Wink

Lots of time. Also, occasionally a conversation*.  Tongue

The concept of hunting with a sling is absolutely fascinating to me, but the reality is not nearly as exciting.

*which I was later able to revive, it just changed to be about slinging.  Cool

Why?

Rocks if you can believe it.

With practice I've found that I can cause rocks to explode on the surface of a lake near my home. The right kind of rock, thrown just right at the surface of the water, will shatter like glass.

Also, I'm very sure your dog would have more fun hunting lizards than you would.

I buy landscaping rocks from Lowe's or Home Depot at about $3.00 a bag (I don't know what prices are elsewhere). Occasionally you get a few rocks in a bag that have weird angles or are cracked off in places due to shipping and handling.

If you can get that rock to hit the water (or ground, for that matter) on or near that angle or crack, BOOM. Very satisfying. Similar to the shotgun effect a few other people have posted about in another forum. I don't claim to be able to control the flight to that degree, obviously, but it's happened enough times that I've come to expect four or five such events per bag.

I was SIX INCHES away from killing a squirrel this morning. Sadly my accuracy was diminished as I had to be very careful, what with being in an urban environment with houses all around me slinging stones.

Don't aim at animals unless you are hunting and will use what you hit. That goes for all weapons. And don't tell us if you do so out of season.

Seriously kid, don't post about aiming at animals. You're too young to legally hunt by yourself, I know you weren't given permission to sling at animals by your parents, you've admitted to having no use for the lizard you aimed at before, and it's definitely not small game season anywhere with a squirrel population (I checked). That's poaching. Don't do that, don't drag slinging.org into your illegal activities, and especially don't poach. You're asking to get in trouble on here. And slinging deadly ammo with deadly force in a neighborhood? That's asking to get in trouble in real life.

Massi - WTF? It's called a sling. You use it to throw rocks farther and faster than you could otherwise. That's all.

There must be some sort of karmic wheel circle of life thing going on here because we just nursed a lizard back to health that the friggin cats mauled on.  Kind of a cool experience actually.  Really made me appreciate the little guys more.

To add one more reason to Masi's list (not that it's needed), but,  you will probably feel bad about it later on in life.  I regret every animal I killed as a kid without purpose.  It sounds kind of quaint I guess, but really, it's just not cool.

That kind of thing happens. I see a rabbit and have 3 things going through my head-
Cute rabbit!
I wonder how it would taste?
What uses do I have for it? (none)
Think of it this way-
You are that squirrel. A human is chucking stones at you for fun. You died because some kid wanted to have some fun. ( I know you didn't hit it but still).
