The Accuracy Commitee: Material Used to make sling
Mar 18th, 2013 at 4:15am

Okay, this will be the opening thread in a series I am calling “The Accuracy Committee:”  After the colon will be the current topic being discussed.

As mentioned in the thread here, we need to make some actual decisions about what we would like to be considered the "standards" for accuracy competitions.

This particular topic is regarding the Materials used to make competition slings  No other topics will be considered within this thread.  There will be many others I'm sure, so I encourage everyone to put in their two cents on the topic at hand and to be patient for the others to come out.

Each Commitee topic will be left active for voting for a period of 3 days to ensure maximum participation.  I may post a number of polls at once, so stay tuned in!

Whatever the competitor can get their hands on, they should be able to use.

We are trying to get this to reach the largest community possible so lets keep the restrictions minimalistic.

What dan said.
Now, I am not opposed to saying like "simple slings"
and complex sling catagories- bootlaces VS Ducttape...

I think it should be open to all materials, if for nothing else than what might be discovered through experimentation in the use of different materials.

Yep.  I agree with yall on this one too.  Really, the sling is such a very simple and efficient weapon that any "improvements" are very subjective.  For Instance, A LightSlinger pouch releases golf balls (and other things) very quickly and cleanly.  There are probably slingers out there who would not appreciate such an "Improvement" because they are used to other stiffer pouches that grip the projectile for longer periods.  These Slingers may end up with a serious early release problem.
"A Sling is a dependant weapon, relying on you for everything but mechanical advantage", and that doesn't change with the materials used..

Yes. No gloves, etc. However wrapping your finger in ducttape is allowed:D

gloves are not a mechanical aid.

If you want to wear gloves - wear gloves it won't help you Smiley

Yup. It's not like we have fancy sights, or computerized releases or anything, so why ban gloves when you're still the one judging the release timing? Wink

No I mean the gloves with the release tongs... I cannot think of a better word. Sorry guys.
They are sort of like a mechanical release. I cannot recall exactly what, but there was a really cool thread about them. somebody made one from wood.
