Netting needles (Read 8354 times)

Anybody know of a store that sells them? And if I wanted to make my own netting needles what materials have people found to be the best to work with?

Pinch the end of your string against the flat side of the needle with your thumb. Bring the string around the inner needle so the bight is on the back and your ends are on the front. Wrap the working end down between the little legs and up the back. Now wrap the string around the inner needle from the other side...lather rinse repeat.

It's easy enough to carve but chips bad. This is my first shuttle. Ten inches long (I think four too long,) and an inch wide (could be a little wider) and the cut at the end is a half inch too deep. Holds 30 feet of 1/8 inch jute.

Posts: 1405 Gender:	Re: Netting needles Reply #12 - Mar 19^th, 2013 at 12:00pm I made one by sawing a 3/4 in pvc segment in half and tapering the nose. I then taped a paper clip to t the front and the back inside the curve pointing forwards and backwards. I wrap the string around the paperclip ends. It works well enough. I'll see about getting a picture up when I can.
