“DISTANCE 1-4”

Definition Of Terms  

Non-Complex Projectile:  For the purposes of this Merit Award, a “Non-Complex” projectile is defined as a projectile that has no onboard propulsion devices such as rocket motors, etc.  All other projectile types are allowed.
Hand Sling:  For the purposes of this Merit Award, a “Hand Sling” will be defined as a sling fastened to the hand/finger/arm of the slinger with one Retention Cord, one Release Cord and one pouch.  Additionally, the sling must be of a type in which the projectile is deployed manually by means of the release cord only.  Slings with automated release features shall not be eligible.

Requirements

Level 1:  Use a Hand Sling to propel a non-complex projectile to a distance of 100+ Meters (or 109 yards)

Level 2:  Use a Hand Sling to propel a non-complex projectile to a distance of 200+ Meters (or 218 yards)

Level 3:  Use a Hand Sling to propel a non-complex projectile to a distance of 300+ Meters (or 328 yards)

Level 4 (Master):  Use a Hand Sling to propel a non-complex projectile to a distance of 400+ Meters (or 437 yards)

“ACCURACY 1-4”

Requirements

For the purposes of Standardizing Accuracy within the Community of Slinging.Org, the following rules will be employed.  

•      The Target shall be a 120cm (or approximately 4ft)white square with a black center circular bull’s-eye 50cm (appx 20”) in diameter.  This is the Balearic Standard, however, the target may be made of any material in any color as long as the dimensions remain the same.

•      In keeping with the “Free Spirit” of our community, there are no restrictions on sling type, sling length, sling method, technique or projectiles used.

•      Note:  only one projectile may be thrown at a time.

•      Refer to the scoring table below for Number of Shots, Range, Point Values, and qualifying scores.

“TECHNIQUES  1-4”

Definition Of Terms

For the Purpose of this Merit Award, “Proficient” will be defined in the following ways:

•      You are able to sling a projectile with the chosen technique in the appropriate direction 9 out of 10 times with “moderate” force.

•      You do not “drop” a projectile before or during spin-up more than 1 out of 15 throws.
Note:  Since this Merit Award may be a little subjective and difficult to provide “proof” for, be as honest as you can when making your petitions.  The Artist should be his own worst critic in these cases.

Requirements:

Level 1: Become Proficient with one Technique.

Level 2: Become Proficient with two Techniques / Review your second technique in a post (Optionally, post a video of you performing the technique at least three times.)

Level 3: Become Proficient with four Techniques / Review your third and fourth techniques in a post (Optionally, post a video of you performing the techniques at least three times each.)

Level 4 (Master):  Become Proficient with six Techniques / Instruct two people in a technique and train them to proficiency.
