RESEARCH MERIT AWARDS

“HISTORIAN  1-4 ”

Requirements

Level 1:  Research two different sources (cannot be Slinging.org) that mention slinging in recent times (during the last 100 years) / post findings.

Level 2:  Research 3 different sources that refer to slinging in recent years / 3 sources referring to slinging In antiquity (100-400 years ago) / post findings.

Level 3:  Research 4 sources referring to slinging in antiquity / 4 sources of ancient (400+ years ago) slinging. / post findings.

Level 4 (Master):  Write thesis, essay, or article at least 4500 words long on a topic of your choice, related to slinging.  / publish it somewhere other than slinging.org / Post the work as an attachment on Slinging.org that other Slingers may download and read.

“ANTHROPOLOGIST  1-4 ”

Requirements

Level 1:  Research any other culture in the world and the Role of Slinging within it. / Post a short review of your findings

Level 2:  Research a second Culture in the world and the Role of Slinging within it. / Post a moderate length review of your findings.

Level 3:  Research a third and fourth cultures in the world and the Roles of Slinging within them. /  Post a moderate length review of your findings.

Level 4 (Master):  Research and write a comprehensive review of a Culture’s history and the role of Slinging within it.  This review should include as much information about slinging in that culture as possible.  Materials used to make slings, slinging techniques, religious considerations, history of conflicts, etc.

“ARCHAEOLOGIST  1-4”

Requirements

Level 1:  Visit a Museum or Archaeological dig that has Ancient Slings on display. /  (If allowed) Take photos and post what you learned about the Sling(s).

Level 2:  Visit 2 – 3 Museums, Archaeological digs or Historical Sites that have Ancient Slinging Materials on display. /  (If allowed) Take photos and post what you learned about the Sling(s). 

Level 3:  Prepare and plant a Time Capsule with Slinging Materials inside of it.  Mark it to be uncovered 100+ years from the current date.

Level 4 (Master): Participate in an Archaeological dig focusing on a culture that may contain Slings or Slinging Material.

“PHYSICIST 1-4”

Requirements

Level 1:  Research an aspect of the physics of the Sling or Glandes, and post your findings.

Level 2:  Research two aspects of the physics of the Sling or Glandes and post your findings.

Level 3:  Research four aspects of the Physics of the Sling or Glandes and post your findings.

Level 4(Master):  Develop a working hypothesis about an aspect of the physics of the Sling or Glandes / Experiment and post your findings.
