2 weight bolas?

First of all, I've been away for a few weeks because school has been tough and every weekend has been filled with one thing or another. I've got a little bit of catching up to do with reading some new posts.

Anyway, I've been thinking about trying to use a 2-weight bola, or "avestrucera" as I've read it. How would someone throw one of these? How long are they if they only have 2 weights? I couldn't find any information about it.

Reply #2 - Apr 16^th, 2012 at 5:09pm It's kinda like the ones you use for the lawn game bolo golf of ladder golf or whatever. Usualy you hold it by one of the weights. For the slight bit of extra cord and work, it's a much better weapon to make a way more effective bola if you add a third strand.

sling launched bolas very feasible. Someones made and thrown them recently.

basically get a couple of 1 ounce lead fishing weights. Join with about 3 foot of very strong fishing line. coil line between the weights and seat them in the sling pouch head to toe. ie: narrow end to wide end with the coiled cord held between the two weights.

And then just sling

If I were ever to use a sling for hunting quadrapeds - it's the ammo I'd use.

Yeah, I made one last year, It worked pretty well. I just had a few rocks a that were kind of flat so they would fit together in the pouch and then 3 cords of bank line tied together. It worked pretty well though it doen't give it quite the spin that throwing does. And make sure the cords are plentyl long too. due to the fact the cords aren't really spinning like they do when you throw them, you loose a lot of surface area. When they do hit, they wrap around quite nicely too.

I was pretty good at slinging like 10 years ago.
