ammoball

I donīt know if this already exist "here" but I got this idea today. It a bit softer then a stone, but not so much. Itīs a homemade jiggling ball filled with small stones.  I use beaver-nylon as fabrik, wich is strong and stand water and dirt quite well.

I found an explanation in internet. Itīs in swedish but one need the template to start with:

http://www.slojd.se/pdf/beskrivning/jongler.PDF

The final result of this project today was a ball at the size of a golfball and slighty heavier.

Some pictures follow here......

Itīs little bit too small for my taste, so next time I do a bigger ball.

How many times can you sling something like that before it breaks??

That's a great idea Ulrica. If made with sand I wonder if it could be used indoors?

in a big hall, you mean? Not in the livingroom? Wink

Yeah. i think that could be possible. One probably could mix the sand up with cottonwool or some plastic filling to regulate the weight. - It mustnīt be too light though.. or you pad the inside of the ball with cotton?

Yesterday evening, when I got to bed I come up with a totally crazy idea:

if you glue velcro on the ball(s) and put up a big fabric between approx two trees with a kind of huge dartcircles on ( think bow-shooting) on it. The Fabric should be one, that the velcro stick on it.
Then sling the ball(s) and they will - hopefully- stick on the fabric and give points... Smiley

That game could also be played in a big hall, on a backyard or everywhere in the woods..

Whatīs about it?

So almost like a game of darts but with slings instead? That sounds like a lot of fun actually.  I would definitely play that if I could find someone to play with.

As far as the indoors idea I was kind of thinking more like in a garage. But a long hall should work as well.

When you wrote garage, our garage come up in my mind; low roof, not even 2 meters high, alot ! of things everywhere where you hardly can walk across Wink

Yeah, a bigger garage ( then ours) and maybe if you have a short sling.  If you just want to practice the "swing", tie the stone hard to the pouch, so itīs NOT flying away and then practice the swing......

Ulrica the balls looks great! They are semi-safe ammo, good to play in a backyard with. I think that a bit bigger ones wold work better, especially with your big pouches. They remind me Jaegoor's idea - balloons filled with sand.

I like your idea of velcro ammo - an another interesting way to play with sling safely. I think the Peruvian sling will not work well with velcro ammo Smiley

In the shape, structure and position of each stone, there is recorded a small piece of history. So, slinging them, we add a bit of our history to them.

Laugh out LOUD!  *tears in my eyes* No, i guess that sling will be too attatched to those balls.  Grin

good to see you back on the forum  Smiley

great ammo idea too.

i've used ping pong balls with strips of velcro on to sling at velcro targets. eventually lost all the balls.
still in my workshop somewhere - but finding them makes needle in a haystick look like an easy option Smiley.

Thank you so much!
Itīs nice to be so warmth welcomed!

He he sounds like you have a lot lying around in your workshop.

What do you think of my velcro idea? Could it work? Or do you need a harder target than that fabric?
