Okay, sounds good. I put the date on the calendar. Lake Grapevine stones are generally irregular, but one can find a few decent ones...or sling some good round stones you take out there and launch "out to sea" for distance. Sometimes there's a log or something off shore that can make a good target. There are also some areas along the shore that serve like a natural backstop for trying out lead, concrete, or steel ammo and having a reasonable chance of finding it again. The only real issue is the water level. If it is high, there is little or no shoreline and the weeds can be a real obstacle...but if the water level is down, there can be a beautiful pebbly beach that is ideal for slinging. Tends to be best in the winter and early spring before the new plant growth takes off, but again the lake level is the decisive factor. And the best area for access, parking, and no people is the south side of the lake at the north end of White Chapel Road off 114. Another good spot is a mile east of there at the end of East Bob Jones Road. Needless to say, I have slung a lot out there and used to live walking distance from both spots.
