Weaving terms:
  • warp-the 5 strands in your pouch that you tied in a sheep shank knot
  • weft-the strand that you are weaving back and forth

Here is my trick: When you weave do not pull tight on the weft, just leave it loose. When you weave to the end of the pouch scrunch the weft up at one end of the pouch (it should be the end that you started weaving on) and then keep weaving until you can't scrunch up the weft anymore. Use your fingers or a knitting needle to move excess cord from the center of the pouch to both ends, the same way that you would tighten your shoelaces starting from your toes up the the ends of the laces. The entire time you are doing this make sure that the warp stay straight. If you do it this way the pouch will come out nice and flat, have no gaps, and will be a little wider. If it isn't wide enough you may need to find thicker cord to make your sling from.

Looking at your picture it looks like you've been pulling too tightly on your weft as you weave.

Massi - WTF? It's called a sling. You use it to throw rocks farther and faster than you could otherwise. That's all.

Hi, and welcome, noah0928;
    First, have you tried using one of these very thin pouched pj slings?  I often make pjs with very thin pouches on purpose because they offer less air resistance and consequently shoot farther.  Plus there's no problem with the projectile slipping out premature as long as I balance it perpendicular to the pouch when loading.
   With that in mind, sometimes a wider pouch is desired anyway.  The easiest way is to just double your weaving cord.  I often do this when using my cheap jute twine as the weaving cord because it has a very thin diameter.    Below is a sling made in that manner.  As long as your weaving cord isn't too thick to start with, it comes out just fine.
   Another solution is to change your pj, which is a five strand sheep shank sling, to a seven strand sheep shank sling, like my Cobra.  You're just making two more loops when initially making the knot that supports the pouch:

If you wish you can skip the changes in the weaving that make the "fangs" for the Cobra, and make just a regular seven strand sheep shank.
    I hope that this is some help to you.  Good luck and be safe.

thanks guys. tonight ill try to undo it and start over. yeah i had been tightening about every 2 passes as i went along. and i have tried slinging with it but the projectiles fall out of that one a whole lot more often than when i use  my duct taped sling.

 As you're weaving, pull on the outside strands. (the strings that make up the "frame" of the pouch)  Pull them nice and tight and you'll get a cupped shape to your pouch like the one in the picture above.  You'll stop dropping projectiles, regardless of how thin the pouch is.  Below is a picture of a TS3, or three strand sheep shank sling.  Say that three times fast.  As skinny as that pouch is, it won't drop projectiles because the two outside strands were pulled up tightly while the pouch was being woven.  That's what keeps it in that "U" shape.  You've made a good choice, btw.  The pj is one of the best slings, IMO.
