elluqutet=Yup'ik Eskimo

An elder described the sling as stated in a book (The Way We Genuinely Live: Masterworks of Yup'ik Science and Survival): Men and boys also used elluqutet (slings), " It has a string about the length of one's arm.  The stone is put in the center, and the other arm spins it and throws it.  We release the other string, and that rock will fly off." He also recalled the name of those who could throw far. "They called one who throws far talliqellria yuk [a person with good arms]. When a person who is strong throws a nagiiquyaq [seal spear] far, they are also called talliqellriit [those with strong arms].  Those with strong arms can also reach the distance of an arrow shot with a bow."
