's Chinese word for sling, 弹弓 and 彈弓 actually means slingshot. Wikipedia calls the sling 投石器, which means "a device to throw rocks", so it can apply to anything that is used to throw rocks, not just the sling alone. But that is the closest word I know.
Can somebody change it? It's been bothering me.

Hello Hadlath,
We are at the moment using the word 抛石鞭 in Chinese. Chinese is not my first language, so I like to know your opinion about the phrase we use. Please comment.

I guess it would work. The sling wouldn't really be classifies as a "鞭" - "whip", but since there is not many other whip-like things that throw rocks, it would also be less likely to be confused with other objects. As long as it's not called a slingshot...
Can someone change the word on
http://www.slinging.org/wiki/index.php?title=Sling_in_Different_Languages
? It still says slingshot under Chinese.

In Croatian/Bosnian/Serbian language it is "praćka", pronounced as pruchka.
I think it must be similar in all slavic languages.

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.&&&&Remember - You are unique.............just like everybody else.

In Greek, it is called "sfendoni" Actually, it is the same name also for slingshot. As for the operator he is called "sfendonítis" or "sfendonistis". The word has mainly military use. The hunter using a sling was only named as hunter.
A more advanced model was the "kestrosfendoni" or kestros in latin. As You all know, it is used for darts. (kestros = small heavy arrow)
