I recently showed a buddy the atlatl, and when in the wood shop today he just started making one. (Art students, hooray)
When we were walking back he asked me what if we attached my sling to the end of the atlatl. I was certain it would work, and I KNEW we weren't the first to think of this. It would work sort of like a treubchet. There's gotta be a name for this, any insight?
I went through this myself and i'm sure there are some slingers that will disagree, but sometimes a cross between two useful items isn't quite as good or useful as the originals. The atlatl is a
great dart thrower and the sling was
created for throwing rocks. The hybrid you are describing just complicates the sling and turns an atlatl into a mere handle. Just my op. You should try it out for yourself.
