thanks, guys Smiley

EC, nothing really. bola might just be the plural form or it might be the feminin, i'm not sure. you should probably ask some our spanish speaking members.

Ken, i'll try, but i can't make any promises. it's going to be a very busy week! rest assured yours is the next order to be filled.

Chris

How do you throw a bola like that? Iīve found that grabbing the weapon by the joints of the rope is not very effective (at leats for me) All the weights fly in the same direction, grabbing it by one of the weights, allows the whole thing to open.

yes, Rockman, i hold one weight and swing the other two. the Inuit style bird bolos are thrown by the central axis, but this type is used just like you describe. the exception is the two weight bolo which is gripped by the cord midway between weights.

Great as always matie... nets were used a lot in my neck of the woods but not bolo's. Or is that bola?

The term is Bola, which means ball in spanish. Bolo means Bowling in Spanish, and is also a kind of men's neck wear in the US (imagine wearing a pair of bowling balls around your neck! Shocked).

Bolas (or bolas perdidas, lost balls in Spanish). Sounds like an unfortunate injury to me. A bolo is a sort of large knife somewhat similar to a machete, used in the Philippines and Malaya.
