flintknapping
Oct 30th, 2009 at 5:09am

I live in an area where there's a lot of flint and now I have some nice rock laying around in my backyard
so I was wondering if there is something like a "manual" for flintknapping?

Im broke at the moment so I prefer free (like pdf or something)  Smiley

does somebody has some tips for tools as wel?
some things you can make yourself at home?

hope someone has some tips

Other than that I think Paleoarts who´s been pretty active on this forum lately probably has some good advice, you could send him a pm.

It's easy, even a caveman can do it. Grin

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

BommareZ, when you get a few bucks pick up "Flintknapping" by John C. Whittaker. it's the best book out there for beginning knappers. the web is a great scource for info, but like you said, it can be a bit of overload. also, there are a lot of people on youtube and other places that claim to be 'experts' and offer advice that frankly don't know what they are talking about. stick with the basics for now, precussion thinning and pressure flaking and don't worry about trying to absorb everything at once.  Wink

just found the book "naked into the wilderness" by John McPherson
and the videos

find it really interesting
he has two videos explaining how to flintknap

he explains easy so it s easy to follow especially when you are not english (you know what i mean with this?)

is this relayeble?

thanks anyway paleoarts for the book suggestion Smiley
