hmm, i think on some of my spam email i could say' i changed my email to blah blah blah', i wonder what blah blah blah is going to be?

well I have been pre-emptive spammer removing recently. Think it was kid123 idea. Any weird looking usernames get a quick lookover and any real obvious spam emails get added to this list and the user removed.
Seems to be working.

lol I will try explaining it to you.

Spammers use little programs that scour the internet looking for email addresses on websites to add to their database so that the people sending spam emails (often paid by someone else to do this) can say: 'look we have a database of 10 million email addresses to send your information to.'.

So by listing emails of our forum spammers out in the open, with luck one or more of these email address gathering programs  will collect these spammer emails and start sending spam TO THEM !

It only takes me a few seconds to do this before i remove the spammer account - so I figure it's got to be worth a shot Smiley

hey, has Chris tried using captcha and recaptcha on the make-you-account-thing? ( a captcha and recaptcha is the thing where the website tells you to write what you see in the box

Yes we have the type what you see box.

What'a actually happening is that a lot of accounts are being set up by real people. Sometimes they don't get used for days. Then someone else uses them to post spam.

I delete the obvious ones as soon as I see them - but some look legit and arn't.
So I'll keep posting emails Smiley
