o yea, for your design, I CAN'T DO IT my fingers hurt from trying to knap, i can't manage to flake my stone. it seems to thick, but you guys are knapping glass. so well, anyone who's experienced willing to help?
i do Not consider myself a experienced knapper, but if your fingers hurt when knapping you could use thick leather/working gloves, when starting this is neccesary to protect you from the flakes.
to knap thick glass you should start concusion flaking (hitting the rock with a rounded object carefully and in the right angles) that makes the glass thinner, and easier to pressure flake. you should also search things in youtube, particularly this guy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2UPpwzVLB0 (thanks rockman) he has like 7 videos of 8-9 minutes long, no part of the process was cut, so you can see very detailedly and with instruction how it is done.
remember obsidian is natural, higher priced glass.
